Riverside Luxury Cruises is a luxury European river cruise line that launched in 2023, sailing three all-suite ships — Riverside Mozart on the Danube, Riverside Debussy on the Rhine, and Riverside Ravel on the Rhône. Every guest gets a butler, and fares include shore excursions, premium drinks, Wi-Fi, gratuities and transfers.

They are the same ships. Riverside acquired the Crystal River Cruises fleet after Crystal ceased operations, and relaunched the vessels under the Riverside name in 2023. The hardware guests admired — the all-suite layouts, the double-width Mozart — carries over, now under new ownership and a new service model.

Three. Riverside Mozart sails the Danube, Riverside Debussy sails the Rhine with Main and Moselle extensions, and Riverside Ravel sails the Rhône and Saône in France. Between them they cover the classic European river routes, on journeys from three to fourteen nights.

Very few. Riverside Debussy and Riverside Ravel each carry 110 guests, and Riverside Mozart carries around 154 — she is roughly double the beam of a standard river ship, which is why she can carry more guests and still feel spacious. The crew ratio is about one crew member per two guests.

She was built to a double-width hull, roughly twice the beam of a conventional Danube vessel. That extra width is what lets her carry an indoor pool, a full spa and the 883 sq ft Owner’s Suite — features a standard 11-metre-beam river ship physically cannot fit. She is restricted to the Danube as a result.

Riverside is not formally adults-only, but its atmosphere, pacing and suite layouts are built around adult travellers, and children are rare on board. Families wanting a river cruise built for them are usually better served by a line with dedicated family programming, such as AmaWaterways or Adventures by Disney.

Yes, to an unusual degree. The fare covers all dining across five venues, unlimited shore excursions, premium wines and spirits, Starlink Wi-Fi, all gratuities and airport transfers. The main things charged separately are airfare, spa treatments, pre- and post-cruise hotels, and travel insurance.

Yes — all of them, not one per port. Riverside includes unlimited guided excursions, usually with a choice between a more active option and a more leisurely one each day, and entry fees and transport are covered. Some have limited capacity, so it is worth pre-booking before departure.

Yes. Premium wines and spirits are included throughout the ship as part of the fare, rather than sold as a drinks package on top of it. If you bring your own wine aboard, a corkage fee of €25 per bottle applies on non-premium packages.

Yes. All gratuities are prepaid within the fare, so nothing is added to your account at the end of the cruise and there is no daily service charge. Additional tipping for exceptional service is welcome but never expected.

Yes. All three ships carry complimentary Starlink satellite Wi-Fi, included for every guest. Riverside notes that service can be interrupted in certain river sections and during lock transits, where the sky view is blocked — a physical constraint of river cruising rather than a service limit.

Yes. Riverside includes complimentary ground transfers on embarkation and disembarkation days. Guests in the Owner’s Suite receive a limousine transfer. Flights themselves are not included in the fare unless a specific air promotion applies.

Yes. Butler service comes with every suite in every category on all three ships — it is not reserved for top suites. Your butler handles unpacking and packing, laundry, restaurant and spa reservations, and in-suite dining. It is the single clearest difference between Riverside and the rest of luxury river cruising.

There are five venues on board — a lot for a ship this size — with open dining times rather than fixed seatings, no assigned tables, and many tables for two. Dishes are cooked à la minute. Riverside took Cruise Critic’s Editor’s Pick for Best Food in the river category in both 2023 and 2024.

Smart casual, with no formal nights. Swimwear and hats are not worn in dining venues, and T-shirts, shorts and flip-flops are not permitted in the Dining Room in the evening. Visits to cathedrals and churches ashore require covered shoulders and knees.

Yes. All three ships carry the FEHI Spa and a fitness area. Riverside Mozart additionally has an indoor pool — possible only because of her double-width hull, and rare on any European river ship. Spa treatments are charged separately; the fitness facilities are included.

Yes, with advance notice. Vegetarian, gluten-free and similar requirements are handled routinely when flagged before sailing. Riverside states that halal and kosher meals cannot be provided. Tell your advisor at the time of booking rather than on embarkation day.

Three, four, five, seven, ten, eleven or fourteen nights — and they can be combined back to back into a single longer trip. That range is unusual: most river lines start at seven nights, which makes Riverside easier to try for the first time and easier to extend once you are hooked.

They run from roughly 190 sq ft in the entry Harmony Suite to 883 sq ft in the two-bedroom Owner’s Suite aboard Riverside Mozart. Riverside claims the largest average suite size in river cruising. Every category, including the smallest, has a king bed, walk-in closet and marble bathroom with a double vanity.

Every category is a suite with butler service; the differences are floor area, whether the balcony is French, and how separate the living space is.

For most couples the Riverside Suite hits the balance — a genuine seating area and a French balcony without penthouse pricing. If you are sailing a longer itinerary or celebrating something, the Penthouse Suite’s separate bedroom and living room is the upgrade that most changes daily life on board.

A panoramic window is fixed glass; a French balcony is a full-height door that opens onto a railing, so the room opens to the river air without giving up interior floor space. On a river ship, where scenery passes close and slowly, most guests find the opening wall worth the category step up.

Yes. Every suite on every Riverside ship has a king-size bed, convertible to twins on request, along with a walk-in closet and a marble bathroom with a double vanity. These are standard fittings rather than upgrades, which is unusual at the entry level in river cruising.
